In our online classes, students will learn all about foam weapons and defense gear and peek behind the curtain to learn about construction of these weapons including swords, shields, bows, spears, and more. We will also learn history of warfare, weapons, civilization and a lot of fun! Matt Fahy LMHC, will facilitate sessions where your child will have the opportunity to boost creativity, build confidence, and engage in online learning.

D&D: RUN THE WORLD’S BEST ROLE-PLAYING GAME

Learn how to run the “the world’s greatest role-playing game!” Ages 11+ encouraged to attend. Learn the components of cooperative storytelling based on chance. Games are played entirely online using Roll20 for gaming and the Discord app for chat. Adults and parents are also welcomed to take this course.

ABOUT THE CLASS

Practice ONLINE Martial Arts with Heroic Health Group Instructor Jae Trese, physical therapist assistant, fifth degree black belt and Sensei in Okinawan Karate.
This course for all ages and abilities, as each exercise is progressive. 

Classes will include:
• Dynamic stretching and a focus on strengthening a variety of muscle groups
• Functional strengthening
• Punch practice
• Kick practice

SAMPLE CLASS WITH JAE

10 minutes of dynamic stretching that begin with a series of yoga sun salutations and variations. Focus on abdominal strengthening and scapular rhythm ending with dynamic stretching of the hip and shoulder sockets.

10 minutes of functional strengthening for the punch. This starts with squats and progresses through isometric squats two jumping squats. Then switch to lunges with trunk twists to increase coordination.

10 minutes of punch practice progressing from slow controlled movements of the hips and legs to explosive movements with the hips and legs. Then slowing down to add the rhythm of the shoulders and trunk rotation. Progressing to half speed punches.

10 minutes of kick practice. Progressing from balance practice to slow motion movements focusing on the strength and stability of the hips and knees. Full range practice of kicks with focus on eccentric control at end range. Kicking with 50% speed with targets and timing.

5 minutes of static stretching to reduce intensity of delayed onset muscle soreness.
